  • he looks back and realizes that he has no expectation of anything coming from the rest f the world
  • Robinson Crusoe* decides that he actually has no desire to live in the civilized world
    • no wickedness of civilization, i. e. pride, corruption, temptations, etc.
    • he was lord and master of all he surveyed on his island
  • many natural resources that were his to use
    • grapes
    • wood
    • wild grain
  • EPIPHANY TIME!!!
    • he realized by his four years on the island that all that could be used was all that was useful
      • to clarify, people cannot enjoy more than they use; there is no want, only need
    • even a mine's worth of diamonds would have no purpose
  • he becomes more optimistic about life :\
  • his condition is much better than he first expected it to be
  • he thinks about how the simple moving of the ship closer to shore saved him
    • he would not be able to get food
  • he realizes that his condition on the island is much better than almost any other situation wherein one would stranded on a remote island
  • he had a backwards karma payout(he did bad things, but God's fortune still smiled upon him)
  • his ink was running on empty
  • his clothes began to rot away
